CT Introductions - Part 1

Good morning!

Over the next few days, we are going to be getting to know of our Autumn / Winter Creative Team a little bit better. The girls all have such a different mix of styles, it's going to be a great 6 months with something to inspire everyone.

Today we are getting to know Celeste, Debbie and Gilly.

Celeste Vermeend

I have been scrapbooking for almost 8 years. I first scrapbooked my baby twins premature birth and their stay in hospital. It was a stressful and emotional time and I felt I needed to document it more creatively and that led me to my local scrapbook store. The rest is history!

I am now a mother to five. Having had two more little ones after my twins and oldest daughter. I live a busy and chaotic life that I wouldn’t have any other way – most of the time! My love of scrapbooking eventually led to photography. And I now run a small business from home and I love it.

Up until my last two children were born I had been regularly published in all three Australian scrapbooking magazines. I have held a DT position on the now defunct For Keeps magazine. I was also a Scrapbooking Memories Master in 2008. I no longer submit my layouts for publishing preferring instead to enter online challenges. I feel honoured to be a part of the Stuck Sketches design team and am very grateful for the opportunity to step back into a designing role after quite a long absence.

Debbie Smith
I live in Adelaide with my husband, three-year-old son and four-year-old daughter, and every morning is like feeding time at the zoo! (I'm not really a morning person, ahem).
I love the photo-a-day project which I’ve been doing for two years, with both my Canon and my i-Phone, and then styling up or grunging down the photos in Photoshop Elements afterwards. I do a double page in my album with these photos each week. I’ve been scrapbooking for four years, and love it more and more every day. I love the joy of creating and playing with new techniques, as well as the satisfaction of recording our story.

I'm hard to categorise: sometimes I like to make very very simple pages with just a photo and a few page elements and other times they're crazy messy. I often add a bit of digi-scrapping elements such as overlays directly on my photo prints so lots of my pages are sort of hybrid. But I love all things papercraft including stamping, making cards and homemade mini books. You'll see bright colours, textures, paint splats and a little retro or vintage twist on my pages. I am not shy about upcycling found objects or raiding my kids’ craft stash. I like making my own titles and embellishments with scraps and leftovers – inking them, stamping them, embossing them, painting them, even covering them with fabric and patterned papers.

Gillian Lester

Hi my name is Gillian Lester (Gilly), I'm a wife to Ben and a mother to Amelia-Jane (Milly) who is 7 years old and very scrap abused.

I've been scrapping for over 7 years now, and it is very much a part of life.I work and teach at Fred The Needle a scrapbooking store in Penrith NSW.

I have been very lucky in my scrapping adventures so far, as I my part of the Scrapbooking Diva's for Scrapbook Creations Magazine, in which I have had over 60 items published, from Front Cover, Off The Page, Cards, layouts to step by step projects. I am also part of the WOW Chipboard Design Team which has been part of my life for over a year and a half now.

I have made lots of great friend through scrapping, as scrappers are a breed of their own, where else can you wet yourself laughting and create a piece history at the same time.
Just a little reminder that there is only 4 days left to enter the February sketches. We have 50 entries already, can we hit 60 or maybe even 70?

  2. I love all the layouts and admire you guys. Myself I am pure digital (glue and scissors do not like me). So I make a .tiff template from the sketches in PSE and then create something. So if my flowers and buttons look fake.....they are!!!
